The update includes changes to player movement, jockeyed
interceptions, tackling, driven ground passes, and other aspects of gameplay. The
Pitch Notes article delves into the changes and their effects in-game, as well
as the reasons behind the updates. Players are encouraged to check out the
previous Pitch Notes to learn more about these exciting additions.
Explosive Accelerate
Archetype
The TU #9 update for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC
versions of FIFA 23 introduces a change for players with the Explosive
AcceleRATE archetype. They will now accelerate slightly quicker during the
early stages of a requested sprint. This change aims to better reflect the
diversity seen in real-world player movement and increase the viability of
different player types in the game. The intent is to make Explosive type
players quicker off the mark when sprinting.
Jockeyed
Interceptions
Before TU #9, when intercepting the ball while jockeying,
the ball could often bounce away from the player, making it difficult to regain
control of the ball. This made it challenging for players who excel at reading
the game to turn their understanding into action on the virtual pitch.
With the change introduced in TU #9, players will have
better control over the ball when intercepting while jockeying, increasing
their chances of retaining possession and making plays.
Driven Ground Pass
Accuracy
The update aims to help players get up the pitch a little
quicker if they want to build their attacks that way.
The change also intends to make Driven Ground Passes play
out more realistically, similar to how they happen in real-world football
matches.
Although the update does not fundamentally alter how Driven
Passing works in FIFA 23, it adds more authenticity to the gameplay.
Standing Tackles,
Pushing, And Pulling
In some situations, a defending player may want to
physically battle for the ball, while in others, the player might want to go
for a tackle immediately.
With this change, there is more focus on Standing Tackles in
scenarios where Pushing and Pulling is not the best option.
This change enables players who are capable of winning the
ball back to rely more on Standing Tackles.
Players who can time their Standing Tackles well will
benefit the most from this change.
Knuckleball Power
Shots
Power Shots and knuckleball shots are both important moves
in a soccer match.
The developers have made a small adjustment to increase the
likelihood of a knuckleball shot when a player performs a Power Shot.
This change is aimed at maintaining the effectiveness of
Power Shots as an attacking move.
The increase in knuckleball shots will only occur when the
player is capable of pulling one off.
